Need some help!

Hey yall how's it going? I'm new on this forum and could use some help I've been looking everywhere! I'm buying a 1990 Acura Integra LS, I know it has a S1 transmission just because it's a '90, but I cannot figure out if it has a B16 or B18, some places say it has to have a B18A1 because the B16 was only introduced as a VTEC in japan. I've worked on this car before changing clutch and adjusting valves thought it had a 1.6 so I'm kinda confused, I need a guaranteed answer LOL because that's a big difference when buying parts!

Also, does anyone know where to find a transmission for this car? I've looked everywhere and I'm not familiar with any good aftermarket companies or anything like that. It's very important, apparently the one it has is destroyed, not sure if it can be rebuilt. Again I'm not sure what engine size, but it's a 1990 LS 5-Speed so it's the S1 transmission not the YS1.

Thanks Much!!

you could check the block if it's a b16 it should say b16a on it or b18a also the valve cover would say dohc vtec if it's a vtec motor.a s1 transmission is a b16 trans I believe

ok so I know it has to be a B18A1, but I read a few places that the only transmission options were A1 (automatic), S1 (1990-1991), and YS1 (1992-1993)....not sure though.

yep like ryukkid said check the block for what engine is in it. stamped right on the left side by the tranny should be a flat spot with either b16 or b18 stamped on it

yea I'm positive it's not VTEC but I'll check it out. What all would need to be done for a motor swap to something newer with more power? Do you just replace the ECU? This one has over 200k on it so I'll probably need to replace it in the future. Thanks!
