i just bought a 98 GSR. it has a complete GReddy turbo kit on it but the turbo needs to be replaced. I'm having a very hard time figuring out what turbo would fit onto this kit. looking at the turbo i found a Mitsubishi stamp on it, and it just has me very confused. If anyone can give me any info on this i would greatly appreciate it. thanks
the turbo model is TD-05H-18G

Correct. Mitsubishi does make turbochargers. Find your self another mitsubishi brand td05 18g and you will be off and on your way. Probably pick one up for $900 brand new. Bought a bigger 20g last year from turbochargers.com for $1100.

thanks, also do you know a ball park figure of about how much it would cost me to get this one rebuilt?, cuz i don't think its that big of a problem, i think it was just the oil seal broke. there is no shaft play, its not making any weird noise and the fan isn't broke at all. so is it possible to just have a seal replaced?

Call a desiel repair shop that's local to you. I've heard GREAT success of people getting their snails rebuilt for great prices.

Most MHI turbos are interchangeable. The 14B, Small 16G, Big 16G, EVO 3 16G, 18G, and 20G are all pretty easily interchangeable.

It would probably be cheapest just to rebuild the 18G if the CHRA and wheels are still in good shape. If not, the others can be had for a decent price.

If you just want a new turbo that is capable of what the TD05-18G is, then I would just go with the EVO3 16G. They can be had for much less than an 18G have about the same capability but with quicker spool.

a turbo rebuild place should clean your turbo for you, Just pick up a Precision sc61 and really enjoy the ride it would be about the same as a new 18g.. Just google turbo rebuild places in your area... make sure they balance the turbo even if they say you dont need it cause your talking about spinning at 40000 rpm its worth the money
