ok so im changing my timing belt and shit and i need a chain wrench or strap wrench to hold the crankshaft pulley in place as i loosen the center bolt. issue is im flat broke and dont have one. lol anyone got a suggestion on how i can hold it still without one? maybe something common around the house? any advice on this would be great the timing belt and water pump will be here tomorrow and i want to be able to take it out the package and put it on and start reassembling everything i dont want to have to worry about taking more stuff off. so any ideas lol if i have what you say to use ill try anything. this is on a 93 ls and as far as ive found the absolute everything ive read online says to use a strap or chain wrench and thats the issue lol

Well I can only think of two suggestions for this scenario.

1.) You can take it to a friend or a shop and have them take the bolt out with an air compressor/impact gun. It won't be so bad to take it out again, and you can probably manage it without something to hold the pulley.

2.) Apply force, put the ratchet or breaker bar on the bolt, and smack it with a hammer. I've done this kind of thing more then once to break free a stubborn bolt.

Or you could rent the tool like I assume your going to. :)
