Is there a loose wire to the starter? Mine randomly wouldn't start last week and it turned out to be a wire to the starter that the rubber boot on it caused a vacum and popped out off.

u could turn the key and hear everything turn on (fuel pump, dash lights, ect) but the starter wouldnt crank.. ended up being that one of the body ground wires had to be replaced..

all the wiring is good.. so im a lil confused y it happen after the valve adjustment..

i JUST replaced my starter yesterday because i was having the same problem. Try slamming your starter (hard) if it starts your starters bad, you can always get it tested at autozone or someplace, i got a new starter for 90 bux at oriellys. good luck man

Check the contact points in the starter. Below is a link to the write up on where they are.

Rebuild starter DIY

This worked for my 3rd gen but its prob safe to assume the 2nd gen used they same starter, if not, my bad. The problem that I was having is that the starter would click and not start. It would take a few times to turn the key till it would finally turn over. What happens is the copper contact points get worn down after 15+ years and they just need to be replaced. Total price to fix = about $10. Hell of a lot cheaper than a new starter.
