My Shift Knob = :(

I was driving today, and went to the hospital to visit a friend, then when I got back in the car, I asked my g/f to drop the e-brake for me, and she goes.... what's this??? Come to find out, about 10 minutes later I went to shift, and felt something crumbling underneath my hand. The shifter is starting to fall apart completely, I've tried super glue, but that's not holding it at all, even the super glued parts are falling off. No biggy I've been wanting a new shift knob anyway... So can I just take the existing knob off and put on a new one? Or would I have to buy another short shifter and what not?

Yeah, it's just that it sucks hard, because I had to pay my mom 2 grand last week, because she paid the difference of the car, and that left me with a lil under $100 for two weeks lol. Pays to be a racer I guess, but thanks guys, I'm ordering it now then.

I think it was just like some Wal-mart type APC shift knob or something.... not sure. Negative on that shift knob, I don't want a slim shift knob, i want a rounded one, just like this one (which I've ordered)

Yeah, I saw the surrounding like paper material hanging, so I peeled it back, and the part that it was wrapped around was starting to chip away... I'll post some pics later, and I put on the MK1 shift knob. Was $28.00 with shipping.
