I bought this 1992 Integra a month ago, not running, but in pretty good shape otherwise. It has had some work done on it at some point years ago, exhaust system for one, headers too. Anyway....The engine turns over great....I have the cams lined up, the distributor checks out, it sparks when it is supposed to but.....here lies my problem.
The fuel pump works, it has good pressure. I actually have it hot wired so I can turn the ignition switch on, connect the fuel pump then turn the engine over with my remote starter. Sometimes, if I get lucky...I can get the car to start using the ether, but it is not a for sure thing. It sounds like it will start, but sounds like it is fuel starved. The strange part is that sometimes it WILL start after spraying and crossing my fingers. When it does, it revs great, and idles really nice. If I shut it down and try a restart right away, it will usually start right up, but let it sit for a minute or two..then it won't.
Today I put my light tester on the injectors while turning it over....both sides had a solid light. I thought I would try something stupid and pull the rail and see if any of the injectors sprayed. I did and even though there was fuel coming out where the injectors go into the rail, non of them sprayed, not even a drip! But the funny thing was that the car started running a bit from the fuel that dripped into the open injector holes!
There is no cold start injector, so I am guessing the main injectors just start out a little richer when cold.
Any ideas out there? I am thinking about getting my ecu checked out at the honda dealer, if they can do that out of the car. I am puzzled and wish I had another ecu to just try for grins.
Thanks, and if you are confused by my description feel free to ask more questions.
