My 91 Ls Build

My under $2K DA9 build. **UPDATE**

SO i'm new to the forum but not with tegs. I owned a 90LS and sold it a couple years ago due to way too many cars! So im givin a little love to my 91LS special. Seeing as i spend over $4,000 on my mustang last year its now time to throw a bit of cash into the teg. Its not the prettyest teg but it will turn out good when im done. The main reason im having this as my new project is cause the differential went out a month ago and i just dont want to send it to the scrap yard. I'm not goin turbo with it or anything its just gonna be my daily driver. I bought a used trans last weekend but had to drive 100 miles out of my way to get it. So my plans as of now are, Rebuild engine, Rebuild transmission, New motor mounts, header and exhaust, Civic radiator, and stuff. Shave the antenna and put a bmw shark fin style one in place of the rear window washer fluid sprayer. Throw on some Honda badges cause in not a fan of the "A" symbol. Going Wingless! Stock tail lights, Black Halo style headlights. I'm thinkin of going with an Olive Drab for the color with a set of bootleg 15" TE37 rims Bronze. Or i kinda like what rims are on "1992tegsedan's" car. also in bronze. Oh and i plan on keeping my build to under $2,000

Heres whats done as of today. I got the engine and trans out and torn apart. The block goes in tomorrow to get punched out 20 over. And ordered a complete overhaul kit that should be here on friday. Broke the pulley takeing it off so i ordered an aluminum UD pulley. I gotta pretty interesting color im goin with the engine so that wont be for a week or so.

Well i just got my over haul kit today and it came with everything like gaskets, bearings, water and oil pump timing belt and the list goes on. I also have a set of cam gears coming and a stainless 4-2-1 header oh and moter mount inserts to stiffen up the old ones. And i cracked the crank pulley while taking it off so i ordered a new UD pulley.

A few teaser pics of the engine. It took me 2 weeks just working on my spare time to get this out of the car and rebuild it and the trans. Hopefully it will be in and running by next week.

FINALLY GOT THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION IN! I double checked everything today and cycled the ignition a few times and it fired right up! Didn't die or over heat or anything. Took it out for a spin and it drove like a new car! I know i've got to baby it for the first few hundred miles but i couldn't resist, I got the wheels chirpin all the way to 4th gear! Put 5 miles on it so far. Now all i have to do is roll the odometer back to 5 miles then get ready for paint! Yeah yeah yeah, i know its illegal to roll it back but oh well i'm not selling it!



Now if only i can figure out the color i want to paint it? Olive drab, honda pilot burnt orange, or gunmetal?
I'm goin with bronze rims but don't know which color to go with.
And my interior is dark grey with a cream yellow insert.

LOL, I rolled the odometer back today. It said 173,xxx But now it says 215. Car drives like new but the body looks like its had 19 years put on it lol. I'll be painting it this summer but want to get a few thigs first. I want to lower the car but not drop it. Who has lowering springs and what kind are they? Any pics would be great just to get an idea of how low to go. NO COILOVERS! BTW, i'll be putting on 15's.

i agree engine work first. mine looks like shit on the exterior but i want my engine built first. you will have a decent sleeper till u get it painted. good job so far

i have skunk 2 springs with stock struts, si rims

but if you click on my pic you should see my other pics, the one pics with the stock wheels with caps is when it was first done so the rear hadn't settled yet
