1990 Rs burning oil, I need to get it rebuilt. Where do I take it to get this done & how much can I expect to pay? (B18a1) I also need a new tranny cuz 3rd gear synchro is bad, I figure id go to pull apart and get it (ys1) any cheaper alternative?
Where you go all depends on your area. You should try searching Google for some websites that sell JDM motors. You can usually buy low mileage engines and transmissions cheap from them.
would buying a new motor and having a shop install it be less expensive than paying a machine shop for a rebuild? i'll definitely look into a tranny on a jdm website.

It would probably cost more to have a shop rebuild it. Typically a shop will have mark-up on all the parts, throw in a little extra labor, ect, so it ends up being more.
