uhhm not running anything. stock map sensor which is now shot. I guess I should have one of those huh? can you tell me what it does exactly? I mean does it eliminate the stock sensor? this would sure explain why the sensor is damaged now.

I know to you these seem like stupid questions but I am a noob. ( I know a noob shouldn't have a turboed car...i've been told that by about 20 different people, but I wanna go fast too). i'm just trying to get educated here.

with the stock map sensor did your car throw a check engine light? what type of management are you using?

you really REALLY should read the thread since youre a newbie. but this is what youre first question was.

When you add a Turbo to your engine, The MAP Sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) which is designed to read Vacuum Pressure, will read Turbo Boost and throw a Check Engine Light. This prevents the Computer from determining the correct air flow and results in poor engine performance. The Missing Link intercepts the Boosted air flow before it hits the MAP Sensor. This fixes Check Engine Lights, Helps the Computer to Maintain Proper Air/Fuel Mixtures and provides smooth Vacuum to Boost Transitions. The Missing Link installs in 5 Minutes with common hand tools.

thanks so much. that article is awesome. that explains why my car went into limp mode. i'll buy one of those but i've still gotta buy a new map sensor.....which happens to be outrageously priced

yah the cel is on and its idling pretty high. I took it out the other day to see how it drove and it pretty much flooded. the car is stock except for the turbo/intercooler and walbro fuel pump. I traded another car for it and i'm working on getting it running right. i'm driving another car until I can do so. once I put an obd1 computer in it and get it tuned I won't need anything like hondata will I? I'm not planning on doing anything else to it performance wise.

You won't need the missing link if you get a "piggy back", hondata, crome, but; it really depends on what your tunner is most familiar with/or willing to work with. But, using the missing link method, I hope you have a way to pull timming for say per lbs of boost and maybe a AFC to compasate for a richer AFRs(it's not good to run boost at 14.7:1 but rather 12:1 unless you have a alky kit). And PLEASE, if you are driving the car untuned, wire open the waste gate and blow off valve until you can get it tunned or take the turbo off.
