Making stock headlights brighter.

OK guys This is a method I have used in the past as well as others I know and with almost a year of use on my old civic I figure that in MOST cases this will not cause a problem.

I am one of those people who HATE driving at night because I hate the feeling of not being able to see well. I normally drive with my high beams on and then I feel much better.

Well I have another option for those who like me prefer the high beams but don't want to have them on full time..

I removed the 9005 high beam bulb and cut the inner plug guides out and then cut some material from the top notch on the exterior of the plug and WALA u can then plug them into the low beam harness and headlamp receiver.

I know some people worry that the extra wattage can burn out the wiring but this is just not true.. The wiring is the same for the low beam and the high beam, the only reason they are different is because the want to keep the lower wattage for daily driving..

now I have 2 sets of high beams.. So if I get pulled over I can say "No officer see "click" NOW my high beams are on"

I mean with the mass amount of cars with HID's this should never be a problem on the roads.

Anyways I am sure some of u knew about this I just wanted to share what I did tonight because I am TIRED of feeling like I just cant see at night.

Let us know how often you get flashed by oncoming cars. I know that the lowbeams are pointed downwards a lot more than the highs, but I can see the brightness blinding oncoming traffic when you go over a bump and the beam pattern points up.

I had the same problem and got raybrig oem foglights for my dc, they help out a lot on that car and I dont even have hids or any fansy bulbs for my low beams

So when you flick your light switch for the cop (playing along with your above scenario), setting it to your actual highbeam setting and the lights stay the same..then what? :p

different set of bulbs come on.. thats all that matters.. I cant control how bright my stock low beam bulbs are.. you know u cant fit high beam bulbs in the low beam sockets..

Besides.. around here no cops bother anyone for headlights.

Yes you can use high beam bulbs for low beam housings and not burn the wiring up as long as the wattage does not exceed the original wattage because if you look at the packages for lights most of the higher up brands have a higher wattage. And if you go to a higher wattage bulb you can always replace the relay with one rated to handle a little more. I did the same thing to my 92 because the low beams sucked and I did alot of nighttime driving.
