Major Water Leak

Is there a freeeze plug on the back side of the block on a 1.7l? I have a major water leak. Lost ALL coolant in about 5 minutes. I have not gotten under the car yet to look, but the fluid is pouring out from the back side of the motor. All hoses look fine.

How hard is it to replace freeze plugs?

The actual act replacing one is fairly easy in itself. It's just getting access to them that is usually a PITA. Depending on where it is located, it can be a huge headache

you sure its not a hose? theres a pee wee hose that goes from the block to the fast idle valve that tends to go bad and leak. the hose is right next to the U shaped hose which is near the t-stat housing. check to see if you have any coolant / wetness aound that area.

For reference here's the back of a b17.

I would say one the main coolant lines in the middle.
