Main Bearings?

My car has started to sound a little bit like a diesel engine when it idles and it worries me a little bit, my friend said its probably just the metal shroud on my catalytic converter because they had to use a grinder to cut it open to get it unclogged. I just dont know what the hell it is.

Well we certainly cant troubleshoot a sound we cant hear.
Why dont you make sure the heat shield on the exhaust isnt touching anything like your friend suggested? Bend or cut it if it is.

I looked under it while it was idle and it looks like the heat shield on the catalytic converter has come lose where it was cut at, im just gonna leave it alone for now.

^ same problem with my 88. Heat shield rattle is really really common in the G1's. Our crap catback exhaust sags overtime. Try and get a new exhaust with mandrel bends that follow the same lines
