Hello, havent been on here in a while but I have a question for ya guys, I was driving home yesturday, in 3rd gear about 3500rpm and my 90 integra lost rpm breifly, didnt die but it jumped right back up to running rpms. Any input on what would cause this? I would like to fix the problem before it gets bigger. My timming is dead on, im getting good fuel preasure to the rail, and everything seems to be running the way it should. Its a B18B, not A previous owner did engine swap, Any input on this is great.

when the rpm dropped it didnt effect the car it was just the gauge or did the car stumble too? id check the coil or the igniter either could be going out its a very common problem with integras.

My name matches again lol
It's probably just a bad connection or sensor with the ICM or a loose ground somewhere. There's a part of the ICM that reads the engine RPM (probably from the TPS). In my DC4 I didn't have a working tach whenever it was really humid outside. It either would start working after 5 or so minutes or it wouldn't work for 2 days. Car drove like normal, but I think I read a faulty tach means the ICM in the distributor might be going bad so I'm not 100% sure.

Well when the rpm dropped the car stumbled as well, tried to fall on its face but recovered very quickly. Im going to check the TPS and IAC, put a new rotor. The car has been running fine since that inceident, so I am going to go through and check the grounding system, It had a ground issue before so maybe that is were the problem persists. Thanks for the ideas, and keep em comin.

would a TPS temporarily fail and pick back up? That is of course on my things to check. Well something else to add in that makesit sound more like the TPS is when I go out to start it in the AM it doesnt want to idle very well ( really low), so I think im going to turn the idle up on it a little bit and see about a new TPS over all that is what most leads are pointing to. (only turning the idle up as temp fix for now)

To let you guys know it was the TPS, unfortunatley though cant change it out for a couple days..... We got like 11 inches of snow yesturday. Everything is still shut down, I live in the mountains in NC.

IM motorvated
make shure you read the resistance of the old tps before you put in the new one..a multimeter is needed..i found this out the hard way before when i was younger
