Heyyyy, folks. I have an Alpine CD deck right now. I've had it since December 2000. Here's a photo of what one looks like:

Well, I LOVE Alpine... have subs and all that (which I'm trying to get rid of right now and an amp and bandpass box - pick-up only) but lately it's been cutting on an off on me and I notice my NEW CD's are skipping!! I handle my CD's very well, too.. never throw them around in the car. They're always tucked away neatly in my CD binder. They develop almost a smudge looking mark (but it won't wipe off) in ONE place after I play them a few times. I don't know if tha't the deck or not? Maybe the binder? but I doubt it.

I was wondering if anyone has any feedback on Clarions or any other kind of cd player that you have in your Integra that you've had for a while and you're very impressed with it. Please any feedback would be greatly appreciated in helping me find a new CD deck.

i have the same problem right now. my friend said its called heat soak or something like that and theres nothing wrong with your headunit it's just that in summer time when its hot the headunit can reach staggering heat levels. which will make your cd skip, and if you go over a bump you'd have to take it out and reinsert because it'll just keep skipping. i would recommend you replacing the headunit though, ya gotta keep up with the joneses! lol

I had a couple Sony headunit's before. They we're ok, but when I got my '97 I got an Alpine CDE 9845 and I'm very happy with it. I'm planning on getting the touch screen Alpine soon. If I were you get Alpine. Their prices aren't that high. I paid $180 for mine right now and it has MP3 capability. I'd go with Alpine. :D

Edit: check out crutchfield.com for car audio

I have an Alpine, I love that head unit. Its my second one. The first one died of old age, then I got a Clarion. The Clarion stayed in the car a couple months, then another Alpine went in.

I have the CDA-9811.

How long did the first Alpine last? and why did you get rid of the Clarion?

Man a few years ago Clarion was the shite! Everyone was talking about or rocking a Clarion

Just kind of fell out of favor I guess. Seemed like the market shifted back to Fujitsu Ten (eclipse) and back to Alpine now. Never heard anything bad about Clarion. They've been selling them cheap at Fry's lately. http://www.outpost.com/

I'm a little partial to the Fujitsu Ten myself :D

I got rid of the Clarion because I just didnt like it. The Alpine only died because the detachable face plate. It was one of the first ones with the detachable face, so she lasted a long time. The face plate couldnt get a good connection, so it cut off all the time. I bought the Clarion because I didnt have a lot of money and wanted a new headunit.
