locking steering column

i read this on another forum and i looked under my dc4 in the same area (above the pedals) and couldnt find anything.. is this really possible?? they used a long 'u' type padlock..

"Master Lock"- Basically this is a lock used to lock off the steering column. The lock itself is a plain old long shackled padlock.

The lock itself isnt the special part here though, its how you use it. When you park your car, you need to turn the wheels all the way over to one side (I cant remember which side, left or right) and the knuckle of the steering column (which is located above the pedals) opens up in a way to allow the lock to pass right through it, hence the need for the longer lock. You just lock the master lock onto the knuckle and it immobilizes the knuckle and therefore the rest of the steering wheel. For anyone who has ever replaced their steering column, you know how much of a bitch it can be to work down there and maneuver down there so its pretty much impossible for a thief to remove it. Also, the lock is extremely inconspicuous and due to it being out of sight, most thieves would not even notice it until its too late to do anything about. When the steering wheel is locked like this, anyone could think its just the ignition lock that occurs when you turn the wheels while the car is off. I know 2 people on other forums that have come back to their car almost stolen and saved because of this lock. 1 Persons car was even running when they got back.

edit:
oops.. found out it was under this plastic cover thing on the steering column.. anywho.. has anyone heard or done this and how effective it is? im about to try this out today..

heard, witnessed and done...easy trick but pain in da ass to take out every morning...effective i would say hell yeah who the fuk is guna think you got a pad lock in the steering colum lol and better yet wrap the lock with something soft so when the thief moves the steering colum it wont bang and make noise leading him to find it...excellent antitheft tech.
