Last week I realized my license plate lights do not light up. It was weird because it was both of them, so initially I thought it was a fuse. So I replaced the fuse, then I replaced both of the bulbs and it still doesn't light up. Any idea on what's going on?
Get a multimeter. Hook the (-) probe to a good ground (chassis). Then the (+) goes to the wire. Set it on the "V" symbol for DC current. Then read the meter.
Test light will work too, easyer as well. Might be a crappy connetion in the pulg. Or a wire cut (alot of people will cut those wires to hide the plate).
Another guess is that they could have an independent ground from the rest of the system. So, try taking a wire and grounding it good. Then just temporarilly connect it to the bulb (not doing anything perminate here)
It works now! The f'in wiring harness wasn't even plugged in?! WTF, so I took the back plastic off and plugged in the wiring harness. Now it works like a charm.
