Lets Talk Alarm Accesories/Security

I have a shock sensor on my alarm right now but just ran into a write-up about motion/proximity sensors, i just want to see what people take are on the subject, because the article pretty much says shock sensors are useless compared to a motion/proximity sensor and they through false readings, but i live where cars drive by constantly and don't want to check on the car every 5 seconds because a car set it off.

I have the motion/proximity sensor. It's basically worthless unless your car is parked in a "non-active zone" Well, I wouldn't say worthless. At least if someone is scoping out your car, they won't stay there for long since the car will keep beeping. It does go off, but then you'll become a little more aware of your surroundings and the time. Like for the first week or so you'll be like "wtf??" but after a while, you'll let some "warnings" go off, but they'll be a slight change in the pattern of the warning and you'll go out and check. If you have the extra cash, just get it, plus the tilt sensor. Maybe add a backup peizo siren and a backup batter, if you can. Some people may come in and tell you that if a thief really want it, they'll get it, but these help me sleep better at night and DD my car without being paranoid.

see thats what i though about the whole high traffic areas, and yeah i know if someone wants it, there get it, but lol people on here understand that doesn't mean im going to leave my car wide open without anything either, i just want some good deterrents, i've got my tricks and things, but the more things you have the harder it is to steal

I think a shock sensor would be better in your case. I think the tilt sensor would be a waste. If you're worried about your wheels being stolen, get some locking lug nuts. If your worried about it being trailered or something.. well you'd better pay closer attention lol.

Motion sensors are adjustable, so if it keeps falsing on you it can be turned down to cover a smaller zone. DEI motion sensors don't perform very well from my experience, which is unusual because I otherwise swear by that company. The best motion sensor I've ever dealt with by far was Alpine, it worked flawlessly, and it was dual zone - an outer zone for a warning chirp and a separate inner zone for instant alarm. It never falsed. But their shock sensor sucked, falsed so much I shut it off. But that was for an older model, maybe they've improved it.

ive heard you can get those tilt sensors down to like a single degree of motion.

i have big plans for security once i get out of this podunk town. theft is honestly non-existent. before i get all the "you're not gonna be prepared" haters, it has an alarm and stays under a cover down a 10th of a mile driveway. next year it will be garaged. but once i get back to houston, my alarms gonna go top-shelf ;)

PS. nice siggy tegsox.

you can always adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensor.

also getting a back up battery for the brain and a back up sirens is good. (fyi the back up battery doesn't power the sirens)
