is this possible?

is it possible to have ITB's with a boosted car. I have never seen this yet, but just think if you are making 8 pounds of boost with a normal turbo setup that means the boost is getting divided up between 4 cylinders and if you have ITB's with boost it would be 8 pounds of boost in each cylinder. Or an i just totally wrong with all of this haha please let me know what you people think thanks in advance

theoritically 2lbs of boost would be delivered to each cyclinder...only thing is that you would have to custom fab a manifold to connect to the ITB's

It is possible to run ITB's on a turbo car. You would just need a custom plenum. The theory about the cylinders splitting boost is inaccurate. If there is 8 psi of boost in the manifold then each cylinder will see about 8 psi of boost. They aren't dividing up the boost

OMG it has VTEC?
Wouldn't this be crazy to tune or would it be about the same as just having ITBs

oh i thought the boost would divide up lol but i would love to see this done just to see what it would look like haha do you think you would get more power with the ITB turbo setup rather than IM and turbo

The 4AGE 20v motor (Toyota) come's with standard ITB's. No, you can't boost ITBs with the velocity funnels on the end. But like on the 20v 4AGE motor, it comes with a stock plenum, and you need one of those to boost it, which people have done.

Would there be any benefits to having ITBs on a boosted car?

I wanna say I remember a guy that used to be on here that got a M5 with ITB's, then boosted it... I can't remember who it was tho

lol thanks for all the input guys but i would just like to see what this would look like under the hood and do you think it would produce more power or do you think you would get robbed of power

Considering people can get over 700hp with one throttle body, what's the point? lol

ITB's are mainly used on N/A cars to increase air velocity and mass directly into the ports. You don't see it much on boosted cars because they really don't have a strong need for help getting air into the cylinders. The turbo is forcing air down the engine's throat faster than it can swallow it anyway. With the piston going down, there is a vacuum in the combustion chamber, when the intake valves pop open, that pressurized air is excited about escaping into the cylinders as fast as it can. With an N/A car, that vacuum is the only force there is to get air in the cylinders.

The only place you see it in abudance is in CART/IRL. But of course they are running 2.65L DOHC V8 with 800hp

wow very good description lol this thread can be over now i see it would be pointless to run ITB's on a boosted motors now thanks for all the knowledge
