Ok i have a question, my shifter wobble left to right in gears as if it is in neutral?
i am pretty sure it should stay steady when in gears.
but at the same time im not sure what the problem is..

Ominous is right. Mine is the same way. I just ordered some energy suspension bushings for it. I paid under fifteen bucks. I think it was like twelve after shipping. Not bad at all.

Here is where I bought it from:

Like I said, it was under fifteen, and it was here in like two or three days.

i was just wondering, can it be the transmission?

thats right.

have u tried the bushings yet? its a cheap fix. and im not sure cuz the DA has a cable tranny which is different then the one the 3rd gen have. but im almost certain that its not the tranny because u either couldnt stay in gear or it would grind like a mofo if it was a tranny problem. Im pretty sure since u havent mentioned anything like that then the most likely cause is something small (like the bushings) need to be replaced.

92_JDM, I am like 98% sure it is your shifter bushings. I made a post about it awhile back because I thought it was odd the gears had as much play in them as neutral lol.

I understand about the bushings being stock and worn out, but my 5 speed is not a cable linkage. It is a straight linkage from the shifter to the rod that comes out of the tranny. It is held on to that shaft by what looks like a roll pin throught the linkage from the shifter and through the shaft that comes out of the tranny. The linkage from the shifter has too much play in it where that pin goes through. I was wondering if just replacing the pin would stop the play or is there a better linkage setup. I would have thought a bolt would have been a lot better way to connect the 2 linkages and would have been stronger and easier to replace.

Anyway, it does need the rubber bushings replaced but the pin is the main question.

Sorry, a 1992 Acura Integra GS-r with the manual 5 speed and 1.8L engine

Thanks

I read in my manual you're supposed to replace the pin when you do the bushings, but the instructions that came with my bushings say to re-use all the factory hardware..

So it's up to you I suppose. It's a cheap pin anyways.

Thanks. I have to replace the seal on the shifter linkage anyway, so will see about making that part a little less sloppy. I am surprised that no one makes a better mousetrap for that part. Lots of short shifters, but not anything on the linkage.

Poly-Urethane bushings supposedly help. I can't really say if it helps because the stock ones were worn out lol.
