Hey guys I'm new to this forum but have been a DA owner for over 13 years and have previously posted over at www.honda-tech.com, www.b17a.com and www.g2ic.com.
I own a 1992 GS-R with 284,000 miles. Within the last year the car has been behaving strangely when attempting to start in cold weather (i.e. ambient temperature below 50°F ) Since I no longer DD this car I put this issue on the back burner all summer but fall is now approaching and I want to take care of this.
Anyways, what happens is when I try to star the car in cold weather nothing happens. I turn the key to the starter position and while all the electronics and accessories light up that is it. Nothing from the engine. No cranking, no clicking, nothing. 2/3 times if i continue to hold the key in the starter position for 30-45 seconds the engine will crank and then start immediately. But sometimes continuing to hold the key in the starter position does nothing. However the car still starts immediately if roll started.
The starter was replaced in 2002 and the main fuel relay back in 2004. The battery was last replaced just under a year ago. I believe that a few of the starter motor's brushes are bad but is this a starter issue or something else? Perhaps a relay?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
