Interior fans not working?

Hey CI!

For some reason the fans in the interior of my car do not work at all. Settings 1-4 do nothing whatsoever, however if I change from cool air to hot air the temperature of the air coming in does change. Air does make its way into the car but only in a passive way through the air vents, no fan is blowing. I assume this is from air passing into the interior via the vents without assistance from the fans.

Any tips on where to start troubleshooting first? Thanks!

Edit: Problem has been resolved. Thanks CI!

Does it feel like there is resistance from the switch itself when you move it? If it's not a fuse you might pull the climate control out and check to make sure that's not broken. If neither of those are it, I'd look at the blower motor next. Good luck, keep us posted

check your fuse
Any idea what fuse it is? Would it be located under the driver side or by the engine? I don't think it is the fuse however as I recently did a check of my fuses to see if any were blown and didn't see anything. I'll check again as I might have missed it.

There isn't any resistance when I change the switch from 1-4 however there is heavy resistance when I attempt to adjust the tempature. How would I go about removing the climate control? Can it be removed directly out of the dash? If I were to remove it, what might I be looking for to indicate that it is broken?

How might I begin to diagnose the blower motor? What are the signs that it isn't working? Is this a major issue if it is indeed broken?

I haven't taken the climate control out of an integra but here's a link on removal http://www.clubintegra.com/board/showthread.php?t=13508&highlight=climate+control
That might help you out a little. You might do a better search and find a step by step removal. It should be easy, just take your time and don't break anything. Just make sure the switch is switching what it's suppose to. Behind it should be the actual device it switches, try to swich it manually and see if the heater comes on, if it does then there's your problem.

bad relay? usually located under the hood towards the the windshield. check your manual to see which one it is and hot wire it if your fan goes on thiers your problem. for a temp. fix swap it with the horn relay.

Nice idea, I'll check it out tomorrow morning.

Problem solved!

After dismantling the entire climate control (Took forever, damn tiny electrical plugs were a pain to remove, as were the screws) and cutting my hands a couple times, I couldn't see anything wrong with the climate control itself. I went ahead and cleaned up the switches though so now my heater slide moves much more freely.

Turned out to be a relay. It was the middle relay located in the fuse box by the car battery. I feel dumb because there was no relay there at all, it was completely missing. I just assumed that this was supposed to be a spare slot. I took a spare relay from the adjacent slot and moved it to the center and the fans worked great.

The previous owner obviously hadn't used the fans in a while as I was blasted in the face by a dust storm when I turned the fans on again for the first time in who knows how long :???:

Now I'm off to buy a new relay.. thanks guys! :)

thats good news man. glad to help
Yeah, thanks again :)

I'm just glad it wasn't the blower motor as I really didn't feel like spending $100 and going through the hassle of installing a new one. I'm still at a loss to why there would be a missing relay there. My guess is that at some point one of the three relays located there failed, and the one that did is somehow essential for the car to run. Instead of buying a replacement for the failed relay, the previous owner probably just swapped over the blower motor relay in it's place and never got a new one. Lazy!
