Instrument and ac control lights not working.

Hey i have a 99 gsr a i just got the light dash lights and ac lights do not light up at night when the headlights are cut on. A 7.5 fuse was burnt so i replaced it still didnt work. Pullled the dimmer switch and took it apart for inspection it was melted on the inside so i got one from a junk yard. Checked it with a multimere and it seems to be working. But when i put it in the car the lights still dont work and the switch gets very hot. I tried jumping the red and black wire like alldata said to and where ive read on the web, that jumping them will cause the lights to come on full bright. However they dont the fuse just blows. Anybody got any ideas? anything would be appricated

Check your wiring, you might have a faulty connection or somewhere where the pos/ground touches. My guess is something got screwed up behind the ashtray (part of the same fuse) cause that's the only part you really come in contact with that could screw it up. Other than that I have no idea :/
