Ignition replacement?

So, I could start my car with any key or even without one, as well that I could keep it running after I turn on the car and pull out the key. What part needs replacement, if so where? how much? and is it easy to do myself or should I pay someone?

you need to source out a lock tumbler set... probably want to look at a Matching lock set to have same key for doors & trunk as well.

Basically you main lock cylinder is stripped out making it useful for nothing more than a on/off switch the internals are likely stripped out, usually the result of an attempted theft somewhere in the history of the car.

so i went to like oriles and they told me no one sell the individual lock cylinder for my car cus its newer so I can to buy the whole ignition swtich etc with it. is that true or can I just replace the lock cylinder?

The dealership can rebuild your lock cylinder but it's a bit pricey because it's a pain in the ass on the tech.

Mine did the same thing when I first bought the car... The key wouldn't go on all the way either. One day I managed to wiggle it in all the way and it's worked ever since lol.

Sent from my phone.

Had same problem on my last Integra, except cylinder actually broke internally. Acura wanted over $300.00 for whole ignition assembly, claiming you couldn't get just lock cylinder assembly. went to Honda got a civic cylinder (same one) $60.00. You can get the key code off your driver door cylinder and get a locksmith to re-key cylinder with those numbered tumblers.

I see entire lock sets pop up on fleabay & Craigslist every now and then pretty cheap.

I'd go that route myself
