I need help car isnt starting or getting power. Prior to problem car was starting and running fine, then one day after i cut it off the car didnt start or run anymore. I wont even turn over or nothing all lights were coming on but only made a click but it wasnt a click that you would normally get with a battery problem. So i changed out alternator and it still doesnt do anything except this time it has no power. What do yall think it could be?

Dead battery.

Have you tried jumping it or getting the battery charged? When the battery can deplete to a point where you dont hear any clicking from the starter.

If the battery is good, try the jump the starter. You can connect a power wire and touch it directly to a specific connection on the starter, I THINK its the exciter (the little spade plug). I would look it up online before you go slinging a live power wire though.

If that does work, then maybe its your ignition switch.

I took the battery to the parts store to get it charged they said it was charged but when i got it home it didnt do anything in the car. Ill read up on jumping the starter if that doesn't work then ill change the ignition switch and let you know how it goes.

It could be the starter itself. You said you replaced the alternator, did you mean the starter?

If the car wont start, the alternator wouldnt be the first think I look at. You would see the signs of alternator failure as you are driving, not when you tried to start the car.

I replaced the alternator when i got the car looked at i was told it was the alternator but obviously the mechanic didnt know what he was talking about. Ill try to jump starter or get car towed to firestone or a near by garage. So would the starter cause the car to be without power.

You have no lights when you turn the ignition to the on position?

Try to explain in detail whats happening.

When you open the door, does the dome light come on?
When you put the key in does the instrument cluster, radio, clock, etc come on?

If those are both no, its not the ignition or the starter. There a big fuse in the engine bay fuse box, the main fuse. Its probably blown and that means no power is coming into the car. (pretty sure at least). I think its 80amp or 100amp.

My buddys vehicle was been doin same thing found the charge back wire from alternator to positive battery post had a loose wire at butt connector it also went thru a fuseible link which could be blown on yours.

I touch a rachet to the charge back wire terminal on alternator of my ae86 blew the 40 amp fusible link on positive battery terminal and it did same thing no lights nothing.

Check the cheap easy to repair things first before deemin it to be somethin worst.

If the car has been sitting a while since you had the battery charged and tested it may have lost some power and not have enough to crank the car.

How long has it been inoperable? If its in a convenient place, pull another car up next to it and try to jump it.

If you try to jump the starter MAKE SURE THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL (assuming manual transmission)!!! The car will lurch forward if it is in gear. Please dont hurt yourself.

Check battery voltage with a dvom should be 12.6 or close to it anything below 9.6 volts car would not if thats fine check for spark with a spark tester, not a screwdriver its not a guarenteed sign its ok. And of course fuel may be clogged filter or line does fuel pump prime when cel comes on and goes off?
