Sold my Tahoe today and am driving the wifes, Lincoln LS until I get me a ride. So help her get her car back by helping me with some info :)

Keep in mind that I will most likely be looking toward 4-doors (got kids).

What cars and engine/drivetrains should I be looking for?

What engine codes and VIN codes should I be looking for?

Should I look pass on cars that already have several mods on them and do that stuff myself? I have noticed that prices dont seem to vary too much for slightly modded cars but some guys think a hammer makes a good wrench :p

Thanx for helping a newb and future Integra owner.

get yourself a 4dr LS with mo mods .. do the mods yourself .. if you buy the car modded, it means it has already been abused by the previous owner.

PS WELCOME TO CI .. there is quite a mix here. you will find

Are you gonna mod it at all?
If yes, are you going NA or FI?
If you're going NA get a GSR, the DOHC VTEC engine (engine code = B18C1) in the GSR leand more toward an NA application than FI.
If you want to boost it, get a LS, RS, GS or SE. The engine in these (B18B1) are great for boost, as is the GSR, but why spend the extra money on a GSR if you are going to boost anyway.

And yeah, I'd avoid a car that has mods done on it because it's probably been driven hard. And as you mentioned, you don't know what the quality of the install is.

Some info tidbits:
GSR only come manual, the others come in both.
The SE is the same as a GSR (both are fully loaded), but without the VTEC engine.
-SE's have leather seats, which was an option in the GSR (the only GSR option was leather or cloth).
All Integra's, except the Type R, come in 2 door and 4 door.

I would Probly spend 5gs on a LS in pretty good shape get a vtec head and then if you can or you may need to save up turbo that bad bear. That would be crazy.

Get yourself a 4DR (duh) GS, unless your kids are really messy, then get the LS. Make sure its stock, its more fun to do the work yourself.

Great input all. Just the kind of stuff I wanted to know. I have been looking for a 4 door GSR but they seem hard to find.

Your posts raised another question for me. If I was to get a non-VTEC car, what kind of headache am I looking at doing a VTEC head or motor swap? I have done a few V8 Chevy swaps before but I'm new to the import side of things. Is the ECU gonna be OK or is that something that needs to be changed?

I had planned on spending about 4-6 grand on the car and the rest on mods. I'm not sure what year but like the G3's alot. Just some more info: Car will be a daily driver and will see track use some. I dont race on the street and just want a smooth, clean ride.

BTW, a turbo is a possibility, but on down the road a bit.

When you put a VTEC head on a non VTEC block, it's called an LS/VTEC swap/conversion. They are tough to pull off and maintain reliability. But with you having experience in this area, I'd guess you have a better chance than most at making it work. See, the LS (B18B) block has 37cc's more displacement than the VTEC (B18C) block (1797 vs. 1834), so It'll give you a slight torque advantage over doing a straight up engine swap if you do the LS/VTEC. But of course, a straight up engine swap is a walk in the park, and reliability will be a non issue, but It'll be a bit more money.
