I reviewed a number of threads regarding fuel filters and wasn't able to find anything even remotely similar to what I'm experiencing. Allow me to preface this by saying that while I have something of a working knowledge when it comes to cars, I'm definitely no mechanic.
I replaced my fuel filter on my '93 Integra LS (an easy enough task), careful to loosen the pressure bolt first, then the two hollow fuel line bolts. After replacing the filter and tightening down the bolts and pressure bolt (correctly with washers and sufficiently torqued enough), I started the car up and after about a two-second hesitation before it turned over, which I kind of expected as it would probably take a second to push fuel through the new filter, I was confronted with instant. vertical fuel spray coming directly from the filter. In the few seconds it took me to turn the car on, see the problem, run back and turn it off, I probably lost a good few dozen ounces. After that, I took the fuel line bolts off again, inspected the bolts and lines to make sure they weren't defective, and re-tightened them. Exact same issue.
So... yeah, I'm at a loss. Has anyone experienced this or know what the issue is? Any help would be much appreciated.
