Distributor started squeling and I read that it ment the bearing was going and I had to replace the whole distributor.

How do I do this?

Ive already got the part ordered.

Do you have to mark it so the timing is right? And if so where. Ive never had it apart or off the car, so I really have no idea.

Make sure you note the order of the spark plugs on the cap
Make note of the orientation of the input shaft keyway. It is offset into the camshaft.
You can mark the top cam cap where it meets the distributor but its best to use a timing gun to sync it at 16* BTDC

Sorry for my stupid questions, but I have a few more regarding your answers. Like I said Ive never done it before so some of it is greek to me.

What is the input shaft keyway?

When you say the top cam cap where it meets the distributor, do you mean the top of the three bolts that holds the dizzy on?

input shaft keyway = robot penis looking device that connects distributor to intake cam
top cam cap = top of the 3 distributor bolts.

1st easiest way to remember the orientation of the plug wires, take a pic on ur phone.

2nd get a timing gun and make sure your TDC marking is apparent

3rd unplug wires and wiring connectors

4th remove 3 bolts

5th reverse 1-4

6th reset your timing

thanks for the help guys! went great. just labled the plug wires and marked the position on the top bracket and put the new one on. Didnt time it yet but it sounded and felt like it was running fine just from how I lined it up. Will be timing it later.
