Ok, so i looked all around and couldn't find a good write-up on how to install a airbag tray. I've decided to do a detailed write-up. This took me like an hour trying to figure out everything but if i had pictures and such it would probaly only taken 30 or less. I will post pictures when i get home but here is what you gotta do!
1. WARNING: Removing an airbag is illegal but i dont know if it is in every state so please check out your locale laws.
2. Disconnect your negitive terminal on your battery and wrap it in a rag or glove. just make sure it doesn't touch metal or it will arch.
3. Now get in your glove box and remove everything inside. (if that step wasn't obvious)
4. Now on the left and right side of the glove box, there are "L" shaped brackets that keep your glove box from dropping all the way. These actually just swivel down so pull them out of the way.
5. Looking at the right side of the glove box, there is a thing that looks like a trunk piston that slowly lets the glove box down. unsrew it at the bottom and your glove box should just fall down.
6. If you look up inside the glove box "hole" you will see the bottom of your airbag. it should be a long cylinder with 4 screws attaching it to a long metal "L" with the airbag wire attached to the "L". Disconnect the YELLOW wire by pulling it out of the BLUE holder. (There are 4 little teeth on the blue holder.) Then pull down on the middle section of the yellow plug to disconnect it.
7.Now unscrew ALL 4 screws on the airbag cylinder.
8. Find 2 screws located on the left and right side of the airbag cylinder on the black wall and unscrew those. (I laid the back of my seat down then laid my butt on the back of the seat and had my head under the dash.) The one on the right side is a BITCH so be patient.
9. That should be it, get right side up and push the bottom of the airbag cylinder and lift up on the top of the srs pad. don't be afraid to pry a little bit, it should come out so be patient. There are little lips that stick inside the dash so pry inward.
10. You have to put your new airbag tray in with some type of glue or apoxy. I just used super glue and laid a 20 pound weight even over the top of it and left it all night and it worked out great.
11. Reconnect your battery and test your car to be sure nothing went wrong.
12. Now sit back and enjoy your new airbag tray!!!!!
I really hope this helps somebody, I don't know how popular this is to do and maybe thats why there isn't a detailed write up. But there it is guys, please make this a sticky and i will update with pictures. THANK YOU and happy modding!!!
