How to hardwire a power inverter

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about hardwiring a power inverter , if you do could you please help me out on the steps i need to follow? I am a complete noob and treating me like a child is needed lol

oh btw im running a 400 power inverter and i would like for it to have a switch so it doesnt drain batteries.

run your red positive wire to your battery and ground the black to your chassy. and the inverter should have a switch on it
