I don't really see that much of a mess in the engine bay by keeping it. All it is is the control unit and some lines running along the back firewall. If you wanted it out you would have to get some parts from a non-abs teg. Not sure how different the setups are. Maybe a new master cylinder and booster, you would also need to run new lines. All in all your asking for problems and getting rid of a good system, ABS isn't just for safety, i'm sure there's been plenty of times you have had to slam on the brakes because of an unexspected scenario and I garauntee you will not stop faster without it.

I believe the easiest way should be to get an RS 15/16" master cylinder and brake booster, 4 front brake lines from an RS and a 40/40 proportioning valve from an RS or 99-00 Civic Si. If you use the LS master cylinder you will have to modify the lines to fit since the location of the lines isn't the same between ABS and non ABS models

Well I would tell you why not to do it but I'm sure you already know why you shouldn't. I think you everyone is old enough to make their own decisions.

Ok so heres why you should do it.

1. For more room in the bay. I love the little bit of extra space to work on the car and relocate things forward of the fron axle for traction purposes. ie. a slim battery.

2. Most older tegs ABS quits working and is costly to rlace or repair.

3. More pedal control left up to the driver. Ive had to brake super hard plenty of time without abs and never have locked them up. Remember the RS has no abs.

4. Ohh yeah its a fun cheap project. And if your handy all you need to but is a proportioning valve (i got mine off a crx) and the two front brake lines off an RS ( i ordered brand new ones from honda $40). Just borrow a flaring tool and do it all yourself. Ive done write ups on this subject before.

believe it or not this intake set up made tons of power on the dyno, even more than just the shorter tube with the filter.

heres a mock up of how I used the space. It ended up very clean no bolts showing.
thanks alot man, i mean i have no motor in my car right now and want to tuck it and respray it and both would be pointless with the ugly ass lines everywhere. i mean my friend has a 507hwp SI and has no ABS, but it hasnt been a hazard for him! haha

no need for abs... it's all a hype up for nothing IMO. I've never had abs, and it never would have saved me in any of my accidents. actually would have made them worse.

I would disagree. ABS is proven to increase stopping distances on anything but a glass smooth track where the pavement is consistent and more predicatble.....where it can still be beneficial to even a professional driver at times. Threshold braking is not a better alternative on crappy, unpredictable roads with pavement changes and what not. ABS is a proven commodity for street driving. I'm curious to know that if you've never had ABS, how do you know that it wouldn't help you? LOL

1.) Thats wrong... There's nothing about ABS that makes you stop any faster. The basic physics of ABS INCREASE the stopping distance...

I agree it could help you in ice conditions to keep the car under contol. ABS is designed to be able to stear the car while still slowing down, not to prevent stopping something infront of you.

2.) 1st accident I was going WAY to fast around a corner and the car was pretty much thrown off the road. (totally my fault)
2nd accident was a fenderbender where I slid into a car infront of me. If I had ABS, I would have hit them a lot faster than what I was going because the brakes would have been pulsing on and off not slowing me down as fast as constant brake aplication.

another argument that people have is "brake fade". I don't know about you, but how many people that drive a car daily under normal conditions are ever going to experiance brake fade? You only get that when you are raping the shit out of your brakes constantly going around a track.

I understand the physics of ABS and how it works, but it DOESN'T improve stopping distance... it takes the car further to stop when ABS is active
