high compression pistons

OK, i have a few questions. First, would high compression pistons raise hp a substantial amount? My other question is would there need to be any modifications to run high compression pistons like clearance wise with stock head . I was wondering because i was going to buy some because i need over sized pistons (.020 over is what i am buying ) anyways and figured, why not upgrade a little. I am wanting to stay all motor and don't necessarily don't have the money to go the turbo route. I also have bigger injectors and a new complete exhaust system, and safc 2. which may or may not help my situation. any help would be nice thank you

Well, you'll definitely be running 91 octane, I'd recommend getting rods and bearings, and arp's all around

You would have to clay the motor, is it LS? You wouldnt see much gains at all you would be better off going turbo if you need power. You can run B16 pistons that are .20 over but you wont gain much, had a buddy who did it and went from 135 to 160 with a bunch of supporting mods. For good power on an all motor it will actually cost you more then a turbo set up!

yup, if you want all motor get a b18c1 or a b16a2.

It would give you some power, but if you are already doing stuff to fuel and all, I would do tuning beyond the SAFC before going much further into it, but thats just me maybe.

Take that SAFC and throw it in the trash where it belongs. Then get a proper ECU and have it socketed and chipped. Then have the car tuned.

Also, I doubt you'll need larger injectors.

if your going to put high comp pistons in a Ls get the ITR pistons you'll have to have the rods shaved approx 1mm on each side

i meant the rods to be regrineded for the itr or ctr pistons to fit sorry bout that, Btw CTR will give you a higher comp ratio then the itr

Definitley can, depends on how big the pistons are and what other parts you team up with them.

Since your only wanting to upgrade "a little", then your head clearance is fine the way it is. No need to clay.

Keep the injectors, exhaust is good, but you should upgrade to a better tuning system than the SAFC 2.

Get some high comp pistons made for your engine, that fit your stock rods, and you won't need new rods.

OP, do you have an LS motor or a Vtec motor?
If it's an LS, you can't use CTR pistons. The dome is too high.

Also, you need to do some research on your own because until you do, you're going to keep saying you're confused.

If you have a b18a1, I would do the B18b1 head swap you gain alittle from that.. mix that with b16 you will gain alot more over b16 in a1 head... Just saying... Or do an ls/vtec

B1 head swap is pointless. The ports are the same, the difference in the motors is the cams and the IM. Just swap those over and save money.
If you're going to swap over a non vtec head the only one worth the money is a P8R.
