Hi Guys. Few n00b questions.

Ben

Broked a GSR!
Hey guise.

I have a 99 gsr and I'm trying to drop the bottom end/tranny out for a motor swap.

Anyway, how do you get to the shift linkages under the shift boot to unhook those?

Whats the best way to detach the axles from the transmission?

I've got everything taken apart, I just need to get the axles out and shift linkages loose, so I can unbolt the trans mounts and drop the entire thing out of the car.. If someone could answer those questions and maybe give me a tip or two on doing this, that would be great.

Thanks, Ben

32mm socket for the axle nuts. Have a friend step on the brakes while you take these off, they're on at 134 ft-lbs I believe. Then take the front lower control arms off the ball joints and take the Y-forks off of the struts. You also gotta pry the driver side axle off the intermediate shaft. There's a clip ring on it I think. Once the axles are off, the intermediate shaft has three 14mm bolts to take out, then it should just slide right out of the tranny.

Shift linkages is pretty straight forward just get under the car and unbolt it.

Obviously you have to take the header out to do all of this as well.

There's a bunch of mounts, braces, and bolts holding the trans to the block, but it's pretty straight forward.

Get yourself a Haynes manual and have at it.

a screw driver down in the slot of your rotor will work wonders when tryin to break and axle nut loose when your doing it alone.
