Hi I'm new to this forum and to acuras but not to cars. Let me give a little histoy on my car then on with the problem. My car is a 1991 integra da I purchased for $100.00 When I got the car it wouldn't start. After doing some searches here I discovered the main relay just needed soldering. Problem solved It looked like this might have been a problem for a while because the car looks to have new cap and rotor, plugs and wires. Seems previous owner has been throwing parts ar car trying to solve problems. After gertting the car running I noticed oil burning and smoke coming from under hood. I checked it out and thought the valve cover gasket was leaking. I removed cover which dumped some oil into the engine throught spark plug holes. After reassembly I started up the car and of course it has tons of smoke from tailpipe from oil in engine. I let it run for a while to burn all the oil out. Being this is the first time I test drove the car I noticed It stubbles in the mid rpm ranges. I looked at the plug wires last night in the dark to see If I could see and sparks. The wires look new. It seems to idle fine around between 800 and 1100 depending on temp. When I floor it it seems to be ok. Just while cruising it sounds like its missing. I was thinking I might have fouled the plugs so I changed them. I was also getting the code for fuel system issues. Of coarse I did extensive searching for answeres to this most people point fo the 02 sensor. I then changed the fuel filter and the 02 sensor. It does run better but I still have the part throttle stumble. It no longer gets cel though. My next thought was the tps sensor but I would like some thoughts on the matter before I throw more money at the car. Sorry for the length. Thanks

I have a 5 speed transmission. It studders in all gears. However I notice it the most below 3000 rpm. Usually when cruising you can feel it bucking. If I go down a gear or two it cleans out. On a side note I seem to smell exhaust in the cabin. Could it be egr or clogged cat. The car does have 170k miles on it. It does not smoke or seem to use oil.

Thanks all who read this post. Turns out the problem was a simple fix. After closer examination we discovered two of the plug wires were switched.

Sorry I spoke to soon. Now the car runs great however it still seems to have the stumble only between 2000-3000 rpm. When I apply more gas all is well. I noticed some oil in the intake boot and still have the exhaust smell on the inside.
