Help price this car!

Hello everyone,

I'm looking into this bone stock 97 integra LS, 98K miles, took it for a drive, everything feels pretty solid for a 10 year old car, no serious rusting behind the wheel wells, carfax is clean and logs in every single oil change/maintenance service done by the dealership...

only problem is when I popped the hood to check the engine compartment, the hood latch won't close! I gave it
a push down, the dealer tried pushing it down, but the latch just wouldn't catch... Is this a common problem that is easily fixable? Or is it something much worse? I don't have much DIY experience at all.

All in all the dealer was quoting me $6000 even to get the car, is it worth it? Is there anything else I should be wary of when checking out this car?

already did that

perfect conditon goes for around $6000 at dealerships, but I wanted to know what YOU guys would pay for it. KBB doesn't really apply to cars that have a strong following behind them.

Try talking him down a little and use the excuse of having to get the hood latch fixed. That is an easy fix, I dont actually think the price is that bad.

I just bought my '95 with 138k for just over $4000 with tax, title, and everything else.
Seems pretty high me to.

hood might just be the rubber stopper things. its an easy fix either way. 6k doesnt sound bad from a dealer. you can probably find a gsr for the same price from a private seller. however, with the maintenece up keep that yours has, it seems like a good find. you know when everything was serviced and have proof.

To be honest, the price did seem a little high which is why I wanted all your opinions, but at the I'm thinking that the peace of mind of dealer records on the carfax is worth it, as I'm looking for a RELIABLE DAILY DRIVER (no i did not want a civic)

I think I could probably get this car for 1.5-2k less from a private seller.. but the thing is, up here it is pretty hard to find a bone stock Integra up here where I live (north jersey)... i'm going to take the car to a mechanic for a compression test and to have a look under the car to see if everything is in good condition...

That hood latch made me hesitant for a minute; I'm thinking that if the latch is bad, what else could be bad. But if it is an easy fix as you all say it is, then I could use it to knock of a couple hundred off the asking price.

mine was a one owner with all of the original paper work. That's why I jumped to buy mine, even if it had a little rust. A local one owner car with some paper was worth it to me.
If the car checks out, it might make a good deal at $5500.
