Help for a club integra rookie

First, thanks for this resource. I have owned my 1990 Integra since 1999, when I purchased it from my father (or purchased it from his father who purchased brand new). It has been an awesome car when it comes to reliability. Anything that has crept up has been easily dealt with, with a few trips to the parts store. However, a few days ago my Integra left my wife stranded. Here's what she said happened. I'm trying to figure out what the problem is. Thanks in advance...

"I was leaving the stop light and the car would not go above 20mph. I gave it more gas and it wouldn't go. Then I heard a ticking noise and the car died. I tried to start it and it wouldn't start. Then I saw smoke coming from the passenger side window, not the engine, and it smelled like burnt oil."

That's basically what the wifey said. Here is what I did to trouble shoot. I am going to leave my thoughts on what could possibly be the problem out of this post until I receive a few replies with ideas, as I do not want to contaminate anyone's thoughts with my own.

So far I have:

Pulled the valve cover -- timing belt in tact, cams look good, valves look good from that side.
Pulled the spark plugs -- little dirty, but not bad for an 18 year old car.
With spark plugs out, pulled ECU fuse and cranked the car. Engine spun freely and no grinding metal or abnormal mechanical sounds, just spinning freely.
Cranked car with everything back in, wants to turn over, but does not. No abnormal mechanical sounds.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Matt

could be a bad head gasket? Could be clogged injectors too.. When i dropped my b18c1 into my teg, the 2nd cylinder injector wasnt clipped down all the way and was shorting out causing the engine to not spark on cylinder 2. Thats why i was thinking it could possibly be injectors plugged or something. I would also run a compression and leak down test on it to make sure your valves and rings are good still. If your rings are shot, it would cause it to smoke and roll over but not start.

Well if she is trying to turn over, starter is good. Check spark yet?
Check fuel system. Check for pressure after fuel filter, and before by opening lines from 1 side at a time with ignition turn to the first turn. Also a leak down test just to check the engines health.
Good luck
