help 6 grand in the hole !! surging

i have a 90 acura integra gs 5 speed. got it in feb for a dealer. noticed it was surging he said its fine dont worry about it and un plugged it....6 grand later ..... we r now finally fixing the iacv which he unplugged . any way my bf got one from the junk yard it still surges up and down.cleaned it and everything . little did i know that tpart is expensive so is there anything to do before i go and spend the money and it might not be it with my luck?im stuck .btw the dealer half assed EVERYTHING in the car the motor is a 92 dont know if that matters

If its during a cold start its the FITV which is under the throttle body. If its not that do a valve adjustment (but only after you do other stuff like plugs etc) Then if those dont work you may have a warped head.

it only surges when the iacv is pluged in. and mostly when you pump the breaks? vaccum leak?

I believe your car is supposed to kick its rpms up at idle when you unplug the iacv. And if its only surging while plugged in then......... It's probably that.

ok so how do i check my motor year i have the vin. some one said some thing about the ecu to me today to see if it matches how the heck do i do that i cant figure it out

check to see if the vin on the engine matches the vin on the body of the car. from my experiences with my 97, a vacuum leak will cause an idle surge, and pumping the brakes will raise the idle but not really cause a surge.
