Hello All!

Hey All, my name is Kerry; and I've recently had the option to pick up a 1998 Integra with a JDM B18C-Type R swap. However if I do it, I'll be completing the sale from about 1,000 miles away. I do have family who know about cars close to it (or I wouldn't even consider jumping on it). So anyway to prevent going on a long tangent my dad is going to look at the car sometime in the next couple days, and I'm curious as to whether or not there is anything he should be looking for.

I guess I'll continue with a proper introduction now :)

I grew up in muscle cars, they were fun. Then I got a 3000GT and it was all over. I worked my way through the Mitsubishi lineup, got bored. Played with a handful of MKIII Supra's, got bored; picked up a 240SX played with it, parked it, got into european cars (I worked in marketing for an exotics dealership and did a bit of work for their in house racing team which made my already established love for the Ferrari brand even worse but also got me started down the inevitable path of Porsche love). I still daily my 240 (it's mostly stock... drifting was too boring for me to spend too much time on it, plus I only bought the car for $600.00) but it's on its way to the great parking garage in the sky and I need something that I can daily until I'm out of college which is where the aforementioned Integra comes in. It's the one car I've always really liked that I haven't owned yet, so I figure now is as good a time as ever.

I've been lurking on the forum for quite a while now, and really like the environment around here, so hopefully whether I get the car or not I can hang around and learn from you guys.

Welcome!
Is your dad gonna take it for a test drive for you? He should. See how it feels/rides.
Look for the typical things like noticable leaks, rust, damage, etc....
Ask about things such as maintenence schedules/receipts, what has been replaced, any other modifications, etc.

Yeah I'm sure he'll drive it. I figured the normal stuff, what worries me is the motor. Is it relatively reliable? I'll probably have to fly up and drive it down (the car is in Ohio and I'm in South Florida). Also a thing I forgot to mention is that it will probably at some point in my ownership see a few laps at Sebring, how do they take to track time?

ALSO: Are there any marking on the motor that say what year it is? Just curious as I've heard the '98 Spec is the best bet. Sorry if these are silly questions, I literally know nothing about Honda's

ALSO ALSO: How easy are general maintenance parts to get (plugs, belts, etc)? I know for swapped Nissans it can sometimes be a pain.
