heat issues inside car

I'm not sure if this happens alot or if I am just the "lucky" one. I have a 1994 Integra GSR 2door. When I drive for more than 30 mins. then my shifter and lower center console starts heating up. Is this normal or should there be a heat shield under the shifter. Also a short shifter was installed on the car. Thanks

It's normal, it happens to my car too. It's because the exhaust runs right under the center console. There is a heat shield there, but after continuous driving the area becomes heat soaked and some heat radiates into the car.
