Hey, i searched and found threads on this but they were really old so no one could answer my question. I was wondering if its possible to just put cloth over my vinyl headliner? or would it be smarter to pull it out first?

Yes you can lay it over the vinyl. If you were to peel away the vinyl, you would also have to scrape off all of the foam to get to the cardboard. I doubt anything will stick to the old foam once you peel the vinyl off.

I cleaned my headliner, wiped it down with acetone, and put my fabric on with 3M super 90 spray glue. I have had to fix a couple spots, so I suggest getting a dedicated healiner spray (3m has one)

you can definitely put material right over the vinyl headliner. you will of course want the headliner out of the car to do all this.
3M has a spray called "3M Headliner Adhesive" you'll want to use that.

If you want something like Sparco, Bride, Recaro, Status, designer, etc then we are the place to go!

If you want a pattern we can set you up or like ixcocoyxi said, your local fabric store or upholstery store will have a variety. Be careful because if you get a thin fabric, it is very easy for the adhesive to bleed through. you'll want to make sure that the adhesive has plenty of time to set before applying the fabric.
