Headers

Hi, I'm another newbie. I bought a 97 LS yesterday and I love it, but I am ready to start the mods. My knowledge is very limited, so I'm hoping for some help here. Right now everything in my car is stock, and I am thinking about a header as my first mod. Here are my questions: 1) How much hp/torque will it add? 2) What type/brand, how much will it cost, and where should I buy it? 3) How difficult is it to install? 4) Should I get that or an intake first? Also, I am looking for a good DIY intructional book, that is good for a newbies like myself. Any other suggestions about good places to start are great. Just keep in mind that my finances are limited, and I want the most bang for my buck. Thanks!

1) about 5-10 hp. 2) DC Sports and about 250. 3) Not difficult at all. 4) yes.

Helms Manuals are the best books around for the DIYer. get one they will save you money in the long run.

In basic terms, a header adds power by opening up the flow of the engine. The quicker you get exhaust out, the quicker you can combust more fuel, therefore making more power...............I think its something like that.
