head lights and dash light flashing

okay i got my head on my 1990 b18a1 resurfaced put it on new head gasket all the good stuff but ever since them some times all my lights flash when im driving in the night some times they flash and the car runs like crap so i thought maybe my alternator so i put a new one still the same thing lights still flash car studders and does not run good im really not sure what to do any more and some times i can smell wire burning

Its probably a short some place take it to some one that knows about that stuff my friend burnt his da cuz he keap driveing it like that
