Having a roll cage on the street?

Ok so ive heard some mixed opinions with this and the questions is...

If I got a roll cage put in my car...can I drive it on the street?

Ive heard that it can be bad for the car? I tried using the search function and nothing really came up.

Let me know your opinions (i planned on getting one from autopower).

It is fine. A roll bar or roll cage makes the car safer. I have a modified Autopower bolt-in. I just fabricated some extra pickup points on it to stiffen certain places and used recievers that I leave bolted in so I can just slide the bars in and lock them. For example, I made removable bars for the doors so I can take them out and don't have to climb over them when I drive it on the street. But I can slide them right back in and use them at the track for added stiffen and protection. I also welded in a few other bars to triangulate some of the points for added stiffness. That pretty much eliminates my backseat but nobody is riding back there anyway

I mainly did it because a lot of events and open track days require atleast a roll bar to participate depending on how fast and how much power your car has.

Ummmm, one bolts in so it's easier to install. And if you ever want to remove it you don't have to spend hours with a plasma cutter and angle grinder

u think getting one that u have welded in will make ur car stiffer just cuz it actually welded to the frame?

no harm in having a combination of both...weld the parts that are not going to move and are more important for having rigidity...
