Hatch Supports Question

Hey guys,

I reached the point where I needed to replace the hatch supports because they were completely worn out. I didn't go OEM because they wanted WAY too much money for them. So I bought aftermarket and they were slightly different, but still fit. However, they are so powerful that it is actually hard to open the hatch now...i.e. it takes a long time to open and is quite frustrating.

Do they take some time to break-in, or should I just go and return them and buy the OEM ones from the dealer?

Thanks for any advice!!

Are they lubricated properly? The hatch struts should be lubed (this is what causes the old ones to begin to fail...dirt gets caught in the lubrication).

Anyways, rather than buying new...you should hit ebay for a used set or go scope out a local u-pull-it junkyard.
