Harsh, Jarring Ride!!!!!!!

I just got a 1991 Integra.........Is it normal for the rear suspension to be harsh over bumpy roads. The car is fine driving down the highway, but on potholes....the rear seems to go crazy over bumps! A tire shop told me it was normal for integras and civics of these year. I'm not so sure?:???: P.S.....the tires are in good shape... pirelli 205/45/16

When struts blow or go bad they lose their ability to return the spring to the uncompressed state, and the springs continue the motion until they run out of energy (from the bump you hit). I dont think bad struts would cause a stiff ride. Are you sure the struts and springs are OEM?

I agree replace them n lower it while ur at to save time n money. My budy had a celica that did that with factory struts. It especially did it when it was cold out at first n would start to work after n hour of driving but after a couple of months they just froze up. So definately looke n to some new ones even if u find out its something else.

o ok...I'll look to lowering it. I'll wait a few weeks in that case to change the shocks, to save enough money up.

last night I drove the car on a 15 mile stretch of rough road. I thought I was going to wreck. The car was bumping all over the road. It was hard to keep the car in my lane. I searched the threads, Someone told me it could be bushings in trailing arm. I hope it isnt too much money......god., but the car seems like it is unstable.....definitely dangerous.
