Ok i tried searching this and couldnt really find any satisfying answers so new thread time....So have a 98 GSR... I'm really wanting more power so I guess boost is the best way. I want a good RELIABLE kit that is ok for daily driving, but don't want to pay a hella lot. In those of you who have gone boost; What prices am I looking at when its all said and done, buying everything, install (if needed), and a tune. http://www.treadstoneperformance.com/product.phtml?p=163&phot_key=201 I did find this kit, I know turbonetics is a good brand but is this a true bolt on, I put it all in and I should be good to go?

I checked the website and the price listed was "$3655.00/ea". If your going to spend that much money, your better off piecing a turbo build yourself. Also yes, a turbo is a bolt on + a hole you have to drill in your oil pan. Although when you tighten the last screw of your turbo that isn't the last step for a turbo build. Some people don't get their car tuned which is very risky. A tune is the most important part of having a turbo. Without it you are endanger of blowing your engine and not even extract the full potential of your turbo. The tune is the key for making the engine a step reliable + unlocking more power.

btw do you already have i/h/e on your gsr?

Yeah I know you have to get a tune, but in that link it has a thing that says it comes with all your fuel and computer managment pre-programed so idk if thats like ready to rock or what. And I have everything plus some (the car used to be boosted so the a/c is already out and all that but the shit fucked up so it has a diff motor in it) Only thing I dont have is the header mainly cause I've been debating how I wanna get more power and buying a header would be a complete waste if i boost.

get a precision or garret t3,t4, or a t3/t4 hybrid, a tial wastegate, then order a ebay intercooler kit. and a good bov

HONESTLY...a ebay turbo will work just as good as long as you get it tuned right. Rebuild the internals with garret parts and its pretty much a 700$ garret turbo....(they usually run 2000$ msrp) and the rebuild kit is only 90$

Greddy is a waste of money, they are about 1 step up form ebay but for some reason 4 million times more expensive. Greddy used to be good untill fast and furious, then they started shipping out a bunch of junk.

and there is NO turbo kit tht does not need to be tuned, even if your pushing 1 psi, your ecu is programed to put fuel in your engine from 30psi of vacume to 0psi. once you start adding pressure everything changes. if you want cheap then look around on your local craigs lit for a s100 pre chipped ecu or some thing, but s300 is the best, there like 500$

its hard to go cheap on a turbo kit, what ever you skimp on will come back to bit you in the ass later, believe me i know.

Yeah i'm not meaning to go cheap just not like 5 grand...And i know you have to get tuned but it cant just come w/ a pre programmed ecu that will work fine? Thats what that link it the first thread says at the end of it before the bullets. says all new ignition and fuel shit pre-programmed so that "you dont have to worry about inexperienced tuners" Plus it looks like every thing I need.

probably gonna go w/ the treadstone kit w/ turbonetics parts. Then either go to chicago or ohio to get tuned.
