Alright, let me just say this is a work in progress. I'm on deployment and am getting to this as I can...computers and internet aren't really part of the daily routine, but I'll do what I can!
So the story begins with the Eclipse GST I had after highschool and on until I was leaving for bootcamp. Well I loved that car, did some light mods, but there was some stuff I didn't know that didn't exactly help...but didn't kill the car either. I loved how it put the power down and I had what I thought was some decent handling with proxes 4's, how that turbo kicked in. Everything about it I was pleased, I didn't know before hand about their unreliability. However, owning it served as a quick spin up on many things mechanic related. It forced me to learn a lot, real fast! Before long, before I could dive into the plans I had for it (somewhat thankfully) it, like so many other 7bolt dsms do, died. This happened a week before my departure to bootcamp, at the peak of my social activity...severely crippling me. Wasn't too happy about that. Luckily I have good friends and such so I wasn't TOO out of the loop more than I could have been.
I left out for three months of the joyous adventures of Paris Island and returned with a mission: find a worthy Integra. They had been my second love all along and there was a NBP Type R at the dealership I got my eclipse....foreshadowing? Well the eclipse was the cleanest around at least and my father took charge of selling it while I was away, managing to pull 3500 for a beautiful body and a dying heart. That combined with what I had saved, I was in range of a GSR. I found one in Columbus that was exceptionally clean with low miles (IMO) at ~140k and a slew of quality bolt-ons. Exedy stage 1 clutch/flywheel, AEM CAI, DC header, megan testpipe, and apexi WS2. Suspension was stock but I immediately found it handled leaps and bounds better than the eclipse could dream of, very agile machines honda tends to make, I learned quickly. I had it for a few months, hit some local autoX, getting into the swing of things, but the dream of owning a Type R was always there.
My dad's always been a car guy his whole life, since he was 16 he's been buying and selling. He's always been more for classics and muscle until he drove the eclipse and the GSR....he's since been playing with honda's too . Anyways, I was in training in Virginia away from my car and everything I loved, (intentionally exaggerated) and I was chatting with my dad on the phone. As always we talked about cars and he asked if I had been eyeballing craigslist for him, scoping out any deals, gems, etc.....well for the hell of it I got on and searched for Integras and I found a Type R local to my home area, only an hour away....however it was much more than I had in the bank just recently bailing on the eclipse and buying the GSR. Being the great father he agreed to go check it out, if it was satisfactory, I would give him my GSR (knocking off the price I payed for it off the top) and pay him $500 a month.
So he calls the guy, Jose, who we've come to find is a lot like him. Just an honest man workin to get through always having some car toys on the side. Anyways, the 'R was all that. 175k on the clock but you would have never guessed it was over 70k. I always ask people for amusement to see what they say, I tend to get around 70k with the reality now being 205k. When I found her she was 100% bone stock. UNTOUCHED inside and out. Finding an unmolested 'R that had been cared for like this one VERY evidently was is pretty much unseen anywhere, but especially in NE ohio. Being completely rust free, and this clean. Body lines were all perfect too, interior was like new aside for sun fading on the rear seats. A few scuffs/scratches here and there but I couldn't care less about that....s*** happens with that amount of miles.
Naturally we picked it up, oppurtunity like that isn't going to last long. It was winter time, and clearly it'd never seen snow....actually if the winter wasn't so bad the car might not have still been available. It let up the week he went to get it though, guess it was meant to be. Jose had a friend with a trailer truck and we hauled it back to my house. Jose sent me the picture of it offloading in my driveway, I was pretty pumped, it was a dream come true. I was in Virginia too that whole time so I couldn't have done it without my dad who's been a huge help whenever I need it throughout my time owning the car.
My first drive proved the saying if it ain't a Type R then it ain't a tite car. Bone stock it smashed on the GSR's handling, acceleration was noticably better too thanks to the masterpiece c5 and the slightly peppier transmission. The LSD and the balance of the suspension I couldn't believe how much better it was than the gsr.....it was on a whole-nother level.
I really wanted to leave it stock but it wasn't really possible for someone like me. The desire to be faster always sets in....plus for me my car is a major form of self expression, so one thing led to another and we are where we are today. Sorry I never got around to this earlier....I'm active duty. Plus I love driving her too much

As I am track minded I went all motor, and come on...it's a Type R. I fought myself a long time about doing the motor in this car....it was ORIGINAL...but now it still is...from the outside. I wanted more. I decided that it was mine, and I wasn't ever planning to get rid of it so I ended up doing it after all, with no regrets to this day. She's mean now. Haven't gotten on a two wheel dyno on the current setup but on break in it was 238whp/180tq on stock intake, megan ITR header, and 60mm exhaust. I can tell you it is WAY meaner now. It was tuned on an all wheel dyno (four rollers moving) and still put down 228whp/167tq with a increase over baseline ~30whp at most. The header was crushed at that time, but I'd guess she's in the 250/190's range now.
but it's never over....
and, my dad now has one too 8)
