Gas Tank Problem

I got into a car accident in april, and ever since the accident My car has been very sluggish

also i noticed when i go to get gas there is no pressure comming from the gas tank link there should be.

Then my check engine light went on and i took it to my mechanic and we got this error.

P0457 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Leak Detected Fuel Fill Cap Loose/Off

I got a brand new gas cap straight from Acura, and the check engine light still went on.

since the accident wasnt my fault, and i got hit from behing from some lady going 60, my insurance company will pay for it all.

Mechanic says to call insurance company, because he has to take the gas tank off to check to see whats wrong.


what do you guys think it might be?

where did you get hit? the pipe that goes from the tank to the gas cap... that might has a hole sumwhere on it... do you smell gas when you drive it?

i got hit directly in the back. I was stoped on the freeway and got smashed.

car body is all better, just runs funny. and i dont smell gas when i drive.

i live near north highlands. Like on the border of sac and north highlands.

Close to citrus heights and Carmical too.
