Hey guys I have a question for painting a Front bumper. This is for a 95 GST that I just got and I know its not an integra but honestly the dsm sites I think suck  Anyways this bumper is scratched up and actually has a hole in one spot. I was wondering what materials I will need to get this bumper smooth again and how to patch the hole. I have done a little body work but it was always metal where in this case the bumper is plastic.

Please help

im shure you could sand the scraches out. go to a place like napa and ask them what they have that you could use to fill the hole.

Look into a product called Duramix. Its a plastic structural repairing mix you could use to fill the hole. It comes in a tube with 2 cartridges that you lay down together after applying an adhesive promoter. It'll harden and you can sand it down flush to the bumper, then use filler putty over it to finish it off. You don't want to fill it completely with Bondo as the bumper flexes alot and Bondo will not hold.

Yeah I did some research over the weekend. I am going to use 400 grit sandpaper to smooth it out. I was looking at stuff at a parts store on how to fill the hole. They had some thing that was for fiberglass and was water proof... you think that might work? I might just have to experiment...

It depends on what kind of shape your bumper is in. I got mine painted for $250 it had a few scratches and was missing a little bit of paint.

Condition of the paint doesn't matter, since its urethane or plastic most shops take it all the way down to the paint no matter, that why bumpers are more expensive to paint then pretty much everything else lol... btw there was a major thread jack lol. its cool though lol

If you plan on staying with the 95-96 Eclipse front bumper, then I would just search forums, craigslist and/or junkyards for a "new" one. There is a bunch out there and they aren't that expensive. It's a similar deal as with the G3 Integra front bumpers. Most people want to upgrade to the 97-99 Eclipse bumper so the 95-96's are fairly cheap. It's not even worth it to fix a 95-96 IMO.

97-99 Front bumpers go for $175-$250 (price varies so much due to and whether it contains corner lenses and foglight covers and also condition)

95-96 Front bumpers go for $50-$100 give or take

Yeah I use to be in the dsm game when I had a 95 Talon AWD Tsi so when I got this with the body kit I saw a perfect time to switch front ends. I got 97-99 headlights that had the amber removed from the headlights and then I got a 97-99 bumper bumper with no corners or fogs for 50 bucks. The bumper needs a little loving but nothing to hard... the actual shape of the bumper is good though. It currently has the Paul Walker body kit (the blitz one) and I absolutely hate it. I will post some pics up sometime this week. Its going to be a de-ricing project for sure.
