So my 93 teggy 1.8L randomly died at a stop light after making a sqeel/grinding noise the night before. Note this was the first time I've ever heard this sound. I got it back home and did basic test for spark and wasn't getting any. The car would just keep cranking and cranking but never try to turn over. So i pulled the Dizzy and noticed a red/brown dust everywhere and the screw from the rotor must of come loose because it was at the bottom of the cap. Pulled the dizzy and noticed it was completely seized up and some wires were melted. I got a used one that looked to be in good condition and im now getting spark. Im not sure how good the spark is but there is spark and i hear fuel when i turn the key. I also did the check engine light test to see if it turns off, and it does. I also pulled the spark plugs and their wasnt any oil on them and they didnt look too bad.
My dad was trying to tell me to get the #1 cyl TDC and setting the dizzy rotor inline with the #1 spark pin.so the motor is in sync when i crank it. I tried this several times and thought i got the #1 piston up high enough but it didnt work.
