ok so the car is 94 integra.

144,000 miles

1.so i just got it and as i am driving down the road, 30 miles, the check engine light came on 2 times. when i turned off the car and back on again the light was not on till after about 10 miles.

2. then when i came to a light i started smelling oil burning smell. the check engine light was on during this.

so when i got home there was no oil smell from the exhaust, nor did i see any smoke from the exhaust. but when i popped the hood there was oil burning smoke comming from behind the heat shield on the front of the motor. by where the dip stick is.

its directly behind the radiator. like from the bottom of the heat shield. any help would be great

oil is being burned under the hood and its not from where the head gasket is.

i dont have that at my house. i was wondering if there was anyone else that had this type of problem. i know what oil smoke from the exhaust means. i have not seen a car blow smoke from the heat shield or even that area before

You can bring it to an autoparts store such as autozone or advancedautoparts and they will check it free. if its coming from the dipstick area, maybe you have a defective dipstick and its getting blown out of there.

do a self check. use a jumper wire and count the numbers of times the chk engine light flashes. look under the left side dash by the ecu/kick panel look up and it should be there. its a green rubber houseing with a connector in it. use a wire or the all mighty paper clip and jump the connector turn the car to the on pos but not running watch the chk engine light count them fast flashes are for the ones place and long flashes are for the tens. get the code and start from there.

i will give that a try. its not comming from the dip stick though. its like the bottom of the shield area. is there any gaskets around there that it could be comming from??

did you check the bottom of the dip stick, or is it up from that and if you got a pic that would help?
